"The Trail to Sunset"

Between Preston and Fall City

The first wagon road between Preston and Fall City was County Road No. 205, constructed in 1889. This was was also known as the H. H. Ludvigson Road, ran down the valley along the river. In 1912, the road was improved for the Sunset Highway and runs more or less in the same place as the current road. Here is a section of the 1912 road. Today this is just an acess road and looks like it did back in 1912. The Sunset Highway was improved in 1925 and the sharp corners were smoothed out.
