East Almira

Originally the road running eastward toward Wilber ran north on 3rd St. and after crossing the tracks, turned right onto what is now Raber Rd. This road leading north out of town was also the old road to the Grand Coulee Dam.

Raber Road was a section of the 1915 Sunset Highway and was bypassed in 1918 by a new alignment the continued eastward on Main St. and curved around the railroad tracks to reconnect with the 1915. highway. In 1933, Almira was bypassed by the new U.S. Highway 2 that is still in use today.
