Colockum Freighter

This freight wagon team hauled goods and supplies to early settlers and trading posts in the Kittitas Valley and the Wenatchee, Washington Territory area. Freight teams would begin at The Dalles, Oregon and travel through the Kittitas Valley, over the steep Colockum Pass and then follow the Columbia River to Wenatchee. This often took two to three weeks. Once the Northern Pacific and Great Northern Railroads entered the valleys, the freight lines were used less and less.
